Today everyone is interested in AI technology so what exactly is AI? Is it even worth discussing?
The true definition of AI is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines. It is about creating machines that can perform tasks, make decisions, and learn like humans. AI functions by inferring data and inclusive patterns from the given source. Different types of AI run off different baseline AI algorithms, making them react and learn differently.
Based on the capabilities, AI has been divided into 3 categories.
Narrow AI: It is capable of performing a dedicated task and is the most used. We see many purchasing suggestions on e-commerce sites, and they can be the best examples of narrow AI. Even speech and image recognition also fall into this category.
General AI: It can perform intellectual tasks with more efficiency than humans. The idea behind this is to make a smart system that can think like humans. But this is still not fully developed, currently, no system can perform the same tasks as humans.
Super AI: It is still a hypothetical concept. The main idea behind this is to surpass humans in the ability to think, make decisions, and communicate on their own. We can say it is an outcome of general AI.

Based on functionality there are 4 types of AI:
Reactive: The most basic level of AI, which can't store data. Because of this, they always react to the same input with the same output and can't learn from any kind of message. For example, game-playing AI machines, recommendation functions on e-commerce websites, and spam filters on email websites.
Limited memory: This is one step ahead of the previous one. It can temporarily store data input and determine how the data will affect the predictions. We have seen self-working robots and self-driving car models. These all can temporarily store data and perform tasks based on it.
Self-driving cars are the best example of a limited memory system you might have heard of it in the news for sure. These cars can store the speed of nearby cars distance of cars from others and other information to navigate the road.
Theory of mind: This is what the present AI is. It is better equipped to interact with humans. Well, this type of AI is still not developed. It would allow the machines to engage in more sensitive interactions by perceiving emotions and adjusting behaviour accordingly. However, many projects are running to improve this type of AI.
Self-awareness: It will have human-level consciousness and the ability to think and make decisions. The idea behind this is to create systems that can make moral and ethical decisions like humans. This doesn't exist. It is a hypothetical concept.
Overall, we get the idea that AI is a thing that wants to create machines that can mimic the human brain and predict something based on patterns in input data. There are some advantages of using AI, such as eliminating human errors and making unbiased decisions. Apart from this, there are some disadvantages to having it.
For example, it doesn't improve based on experience (only programs can do this), and a lack of creativity and emotions can be seen. And we also heard about machine learning; it is just a subset of AI or can be said that it is part of AI that extracts algorithm learning statistically using data, and ML systems learn from their own experiences and historical data.
After reading so much about Artificial Intelligence, what do you think is even worth discussing about AI? Please comment your opinions below. Also, take part in the ongoing discussion in the Discussion forum.
