
India is marching towards becoming the 4th country in the world to have space docking technology.
ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization is working on a mission called SpaDeX (Space Docking Experiment) to demonstrate in-space docking using 2 small spacecraft launched by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle(PSLV).
Why essential for India?
-- will help in missions like India on the Moon,
-- sample return from the Moon,
-- the building and operation of Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS).
-- when multiple rocket launches are required to achieve common mission objectives.
